SPRINGTIME IS HERE!

Yoksel Zok

Yes, Springtime is here with nature’s beautiful bright blooms telling us winter is over! But there is no guarantee of warm weather and it’s prudent to be mindful of those colder days with chilly winds which can make us more susceptible to colds, coughs and ‘flu.

As the worldwide news of viruses continues to dominate, we can take responsibility for looking after our own health as much as we can. Basic measures of eating wholesome fresh food and getting enough sleep is a given. Looking at our stress levels is also important - stress has enormous impact on our immune systems.

Homeopathy’s view of health is to keep a good balance on all levels, mentally as well as emotionally - then a totality of symptoms is recorded and matched to the most suitable remedy or remedies to support the body’s innate healing system to reach its optimum state of health.

Prevention is always better than cure and so it’s important to be conscious of looking after our own health as much as we can.

IT'S COLD OUT THERE - TAKE GOOD CARE...

January and February are usually testing times weather-wise and can take a toll on our immune systems. So it’s a good time to think about how we can guard against becoming susceptible to any unwanted bugs or viruses.

Common sense precautions have to be:

*Dress up well in these cold temperatures - wear a hat and gloves!

*Take more trouble with eating healthy, whole foods - plenty of fresh fruit & veg.

*Sleep is vital and enough of it too. These short days make it easier to settle down in bed with a good book and perhaps a lovely warming cup of something to aid relaxation and a good night’s rest. Pukka’s Night Time drink with Ashwaganda helps to promote calming sleep.

*Give tea and coffee a bit more of a back seat and drink more warming herbal teas - Three Ginger by Pukka is a good example or make your own with fresh ginger - with some honey and lemon. Tulsi tea is great for head clearing.

*A natural tonic to give your immune system a boost - this is the perfect time of year to invest in a bottle - my favourite has always been Floradix!

*Make sure you have a bottle of Echinacea and Elderberry syrup in your medicine cupboard. So, at the first sign of feeling a bit below par you can take something natural to help your immune system do its job.
