NOVEMBER CARE...

November is the month before Christmas and is always a testing month with changeable, chilly weather including the ‘daylight saving’ change which many people find difficult to adjust to with their energy.

At this time of year school children tend to suffer more with colds, coughs and tummy upsets which usually go through schools like wildfire. Using Homeopathy as a holistic healthcare regime is an excellent way to look after ourselves and using it as a natural preventative system of medicine. By keeping up with professional Homeopathic constitutional treatment with remedies , you can keep ahead with supporting your immune system and help you become less susceptible to unwanted pathogens.

Children will benefit from consistent Homeopathic treatment given before the end of term when they are usually exhausted. More often than not treatment is needed just before the half-term break to help keep them in balance.

Using Homeopathy can also help avoid the use of anti-biotics. A few doses of the right remedy from your Homeopathic first-aid kit, taken right at the start of feeling below par with a simple symptom picure will often allow the body to re-balance itself and get you back to centre. And if you don’t have a kit, it’s well worth investing in one, as not only do you have 18 - 36 remedies all in one compact little box which is perfect for travel as well. It’s also by far the cheapest way of buying remedies over-the-counter.

Taking Homeopathic remedies supported by common sense measures including rest and getting enough sleep plus paying attention to your diet and taking in enough fluids will make all the difference.

If you don’t have a Homeopathic kit which does come with a comprehensive instruction leaftlet and feel you need advice, don’t hesitate to contact a professional homeopath. We’re here to help and support you.

These compact Helios kits contain 18 or 36 remedies which cover all sorts of common and seasonal ailments, first aid situations and more. They are a convenient and cost effective way of having a selection of remedies at home or to take traveling. Each kit comes with its own booklet, giving you an introduction to homeopathy and information to help you choose the right remedy.

Available by mail order from helios.co.uk - an excellent Christmas present for you and the family!

Stay well.

Herbal tintures and supplements are a good addition to maintaining a balance with your health.

APRIL SHOWERS!

Beautifcul Spring flowers are here but so is the rain! Chilly temperatures continue, sometimes daily with the sun appearing every now and again. It’s a time with this unsettled weather to easily catch a chill, so it is important to keep an eye on your overall health and dress for all weathers - especially children! Cold wind exposure can have a habit of bringing on symptoms quite suddenly.

This is also the time of year for hayfever sufferers to think about the more pollen-filled weeks ahead. It’s never too late to experiment with Homeopathy. But to get good results, it is best to visit a Homeopath who can look at your overall health and treat you constitutionally. This is a much more successful way of using Homeopathy but there are also several good hayfever remedies you can buy over the counter for acute symptoms such as Euphrasia, and Allium Cepia for those stinging, watery eyes.

HOMEOPATHIC TISSUE SALTS (remedies in low potency) are a good way to support your health and alleviate a whole variety of symptoms. Helios Pharmacy now have their own brand of the famous twelve tissue salt collection. (Helios.co.uk) They are worth looking at and seeing if there is a weak area you might like to support. For example: Mag Phos is a great tissue salt to help with tired muscles after a lot of sport and fitness exercise, especially if you are prone to muscular cramps. It can also be used to alleviate the pain and discomfort of menstrual cramps. Kali Phos Tissue Salt is very helpful for nervous tension and exhaustion, emotionally and physically. It can also be used to aid recovery and support low energy after an illness.

FEBRUARY IS HERE ALREADY!

The coldest days are hopefully behind us now, with brighter mornings and we can really look forward to the pleasures of Spring. Snowdrops show us the way with their pure white, nodding heads.

We still need to be mindful of our health and be aware of chilly snaps which can take us off our guard. If we're balanced and our immune system is in good order our bodies can protect us. If you sense you're not as harmonious as you could be, then it's wise to take some health steps by getting yourself a good natural tonic, go to bed earlier and eat well - keeping your diet to as many wholefoods as possible and avoid processed food as much as you can.

Weleda's Sea Buckthorn Elixir is a delicious solar solar-powered drink, packed full of natural berries containing vitamin C. And Floradix tonics are always a favourite of mine!

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND A HEALTHY 2024

The beginning of a new year gives us all the opportunity for new healthy regimes.

  • creating a better diet for ourselves to include plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit

  • more sleep - go to bed earlier!

  • a regular exercise routine

  • making sure we get outdoors every day - whatever the weather

  • reduce screen time - an hour less a day makes a huge difference

  • connect to your community if you can

  • give yourself an immune boosting tonic

If you don’t already see a professional homeopath think about investing in your health and book an appointment. Homeopaths tend to see their patients between 3 week and 3 monthly intervals - this depends on the level of health that particular person has. Children can often benefit from homeopathic treatment if they see a practitioner every term, sometimes twice a term, before they crash at half-term and before the main holidays - again each child will be different.

A homeopathic prescription is based on each patient’s mental, emotional as well physical symptoms.

HAYFEVER SEASON IS HERE

Homeopathy very often has good results with the various uncomfortable symptoms of hayfever. Ideally, it’s best to visit a homeopath in the winter months to build up to the hayfever season but homeopathic remedies can work well during the next difficult few months too when pollen counts can run high.

So if you are someone who starts to dread this time of year it’s worth exploring a more holistic approach to help support this seasonal problem. And if you have tried various over-the-counter hayfever products with no success, you may well need the expertise of a professional homeopathic practitioner to take your whole case and treat you on a deeper level.

SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER!

Look after your health naturally - prevention is better than cure…

A touch of Spring is in the air with snowdrops and daffodils brightening up our day, welcoming in this new and much awaited season. BUT THE WEATHER IS STILL COLD - so don't get caught out by getting chilled - especially children if they haven't rested enough from their half-term break. Professional constitutional homeopathic treatment can help support their immune systems and there are many over-the-counter remedies which can be used at home for simple coughs, sore-throats and colds. That goes for adults too - regular, seasonal homeopathic treatment can make a difference if you feel you suffer from more than your fair share of colds and coughs or even 'flu.

March is also the time of year for gardeners and walkers to start flexing their muscles! Whether it's preparing gardens for planting or walkers getting fit and building up to planned treks. Arnica is a well known remedy and comes in all forms to soothe those tired muscles.

An Arnica 6C or 30C homeopathic remedy taken after strenuous walking or gardening can support tired, achey limbs and well worth a try. An Arnica bath soak and your favourite calming favourite tea - even better! Check out Weleda's extensive range of Arnica products.

See you next month…
